GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE: Individuals will perform basic machinist operations on but not limited to manual mills, lathes, NC equipment, saws and drill press. Will support the Corporate Quality Policy and using TQM concepts, principles and tools, will make continuous improvements in the work process.

POSITION FUNCTIONS: Listedbelow are typical functions performed in this position. This description should not be construed to contain every function / responsibility that may be required to be performed by the individual in this position.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform basic setups and operations to produce a part from an engineering print or sketch. Working from raw stock with minimal assistance holding ± .002 tolerances consistently. Able to use equipment listed above and various other shop equipment to produce a quality part. Able to setup, run and program CNC equipment utilizing macro programming.
  2. Able to make simple ultrasonic horn details.
  3. Read and understand blueprints completely.
  4. Perform layout work.
  5. Perform basic math skills including conversion of fractions to decimals and basic trigonometry.
  6. Utilize measuring instruments such as: micrometers, depth micrometers, Vernier calipers and other various measuring instruments needed for the job.
  7. Setup NC/CNC equipment, run and optimize NC/CNC machine time.
  8. Clean and deburr parts so they are ready for completion
  9. Sharpening of cutting tools such as: drills, facing, turning tools and fly cutting tools.
  10. Perform basic maintenance of machines, including minor repairs or adjustments, maintaining oils and coolant levels and their correct concentrations (checked with a refractometer)
  11. Checking and cleaning of filters or coolant tanks as it becomes necessary
  12. Cleaning off machines and immediate area to maintain a clean and safe working area
  13. Keep chips of specific materials separated for recycling purposes
  14. Communicate with next shift employees concerning current or scheduled jobs at the machine, or leave detailed note should next scheduled shift personal not be available
  15. Complete daily time cards and job cards accurately.
  16. Move materials to, from and within the machine shop.
  17. Consult with department manager before making decision(s) that change procedures.
  18. Perform work in other job classifications as needed.
  19. Assist in training of personnel in equipment operation when necessary.
  20. Consult with department manager before making decision(s) that encompass the changing of procedures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School education or equivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two years minimum experience in a machine shop environment with emphasis on set ups and operations of mills, lathes, saws and drill presses. Blueprint reading, math skills, and the use of measuring instruments and machinist tools a must. Working from raw stock with minimal assistance holding ± .005 tolerances consistently.

Full Job Description
GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE: As a member of the Ultrasonic’s assembly team you will have the opportunity to participate in the growth and improvement in the dynamic business environment at Dukane. You will be responsible to assemble various electronic and mechanical products in a self directed, fast paced team based working environment. You will work to assure that all functional areas meet the requirements of the Dukane Quality system. You will have the opportunity to support other team members and, using TQM concepts, principles and tools, will make continuous improvements in work processes.

POSITION FUNCTIONS: Listed below are typical functions performed in this position. This description should not be construed to contain every function/responsibility that may be required to be performed by the individual in this position as he or she is required to perform other related functions as assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform assembly, wiring and soldering operations and modifications to standard product following manufacturing procedures, blueprints and/or employee/supervisory instructions.

2. Operate hand tools such as, but not limited to, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutters, pliers, soldering iron, measuring devices and other various tools needed to perform assembly operations.

3. Operate power and air driven equipment (weighing less than 5 lbs.) such as: screwdrivers, drills, skill saw and other various power tools needed to perform assembly operations.

4. Read and understand drawings and methods to assemble products as required.

5. Complete daily transactions accurately as required.

6. Communicate with supervisor/material specialist on materials and information needed to ensure smooth and timely production.

7. Consult with engineering or department supervisor/manager before making any decision(s) that change procedures.

8. Set up and move materials to and from individual’s work station.

9. Perform task without constant supervision.

10. Perform work in other job classifications within the department as needed.

11. Assist or instruct/train other operators in the assembly, testing and troubleshooting of standard or custom products.

12. Ensure that all work is in compliance with applicable sections of the Dukane Quality System.

· Ability to work in a team based environment, demonstrating a genuine concern for others and ability to “get along” with co-team members.

· Two to three years wiring and soldering and/or assembly experience a must.

· Ability to multi-task and move quickly across various assembly processes.
