New Spin Welders Extend Application Range for
Plastic Assembly
Dukane Ultrasonics broadens its
comprehensive range of plastic assembly products by introducing two
new spin welders. The powerful 3HP and 5HP direct–drive spin welders
(Model No. SVB031 and SVB051) expand the application range of
existing spin welders by utilizing high-performance variable
frequency drivers coupled to an industry standard PLC user
interface.
Built upon a heavy-duty base and column, the new spin welders
feature exceptional rigidity and a machined and polished platen with
threaded mounting holes. The vertical operation of the thruster is
pneumatically controlled for quiet, clean operation. The built-in
compressed air regulator and pressure gauge provide the operator
with a familiar control layout and positive tactile feedback. The
rack and pinion height adjustment is counterbalanced with a
heavy-duty gas strut for ease of
adjustment. Precise weld depth is achieved using optical limit
switches. Operator safety is assured by use of dual palm switches
which comply with OSHA regulations. Both spin welders provide a high, constant torque during the weld cycle
(unlike inertial welders). The motor is computer controlled and
features digital RPM setting controls and DC or optional dynamic
braking. The user interface features a 2 line, 16 character high
contrast LCD display. The 20-key keypad uses a sealed membrane and
is color coded for easy functions
identification. The operator is clearly stepped through the SETUP
menu to perform the initial setup process. The user also has a
MODIFY menu to change the operating parameters and a RUN menu with
four different operating modes. Built-in diagnostics
and custom automation support for part pickup are standard features.
