Mini Hot Plate Welder Fits In Small Spaces

Bigger isn't always better. Just ask the customer who took delivery of Dukane's newest mini Hot Plate welder. The customer needed a specialized machine for welding cylindrical air filters and inner support cages to the thermoplastic end caps. However they didn't want a full size Hot Plate welder. Dukane took the functional elements, resized them to the application and built the assembly in one of their customizable workcells. The entire system was then mounted on a machined solid–steel table.

A horizontal slide retracts the component parts into the heating section. At the end of the cycle, the slide extends to return the finished assembly. Light curtains provide open guarding and protect the operator yet allow easy access to the operating mechanism for quick adjustments. A touch screen interface next to the part loading bay provides the operator with easy access to all the functions. Four steel columns keep the upper and lower platens aligned to ensure precise part placement and repeatability. The rigid guides prevent walking during the weld cycle and eliminate deflection during the clamping cycle.

The complete hot plate welding system takes up only one fourth of the floor area of a conventional unit. It can be ordered with heavy–duty casters making it easy to position the welder in your plant. Many applications similar to this are performed press side during the molding cycle.
