15kHz Ultrasonics Assembly System Pushes Power Boundary

The 15kHz Ultrasonic Assembly System goes beyond the capabilities of comparable systems by providing 4000 watts of power. Its lower frequency waves penetrate materials easier and faster than high-frequency units. The 15kHz system can handle large parts and soft materials thought by many to be difficult or impossible to assemble ultrasonically. In many cases, this makes it a viable alternative to much costlier technologies such as vibration welding.

The generator is the DPC IV Plus with advanced features such as 'Hot Keys' for faster setup, three separate data, status and power displays and automatic tuning for repeatable welds. Plug–in modules add to the generator's versatility. The system is designed for appliance and automotive markets which assemble larger parts that require more pressure and amplitude.

The heavy–duty press is built around a ultra–rigid support column with rack and pinion height adjustment and 10 degrees of radial alignment. The rugged construction means the press can easily handle large horns and tooling, further adding to the system's application range. A heavy–duty slide assembly with sealed bushings provides smooth, frictionless operation.

Standard features include front–panel digital amplitude adjustment in 1% increments. Upper and lower limits can be set for SPC documentation and alarm outputs notify the operator of suspect or bad parts. Also standard are primary and secondary weld collapse or absolute distance, energy, peak power and time modes.  An optional electronic regulator and load cell allow for precision trigger force and weld pressure profiling.
